Ornamental ivy, Hedera helix ‘Ambrosia’ is a compact, semi-erect ivy.

It has beautiful medium-sized leaves, very curly and tight, overlapping on themselves. The blade, composed of 3 lobes, is spotted with green and gray-green, and edged with creamy white. The purple color of the petioles sometimes extends to the base of the leaves.

This ivy, with its bushy habit and slow growth, will prove excellent for ground cover or for filling a pot in the sun or partial shade.

History

This cultivar was discovered by Brother Ingobert Heieck, at the monastery of Neuburg, Germany in 1980. It results from a mutation of ‘Gertrud Stauss’.
