The ornamental ivy, Hedera helix ‘California Gold’ , particularly delights us with the colour of its young shoots.
The stems, thick, well branched, with short internodes, bear leaves formed of 5 well-marked lobes. They are marbled with creamy yellow, on a light green background whose proportion can vary quite greatly. The blade is slightly wavy at the sinuses.
It is a compact, slow-growing ground cover ivy , to be planted in a bright location for at least part of the day to promote its beautiful coloring.
History
This cultivar is a mutation of ‘California’. It was introduced from the United States.
