Ornemental ivy  – Hedera helix ‘Ceridwen’

In a nutshell

The ornamental ivy, Hedera helix ‘Ceridwen’ , lives up to its Welsh name meaning ‘pretty’.

It has beautiful leaves speckled with green and gray with more or less golden margins. Some leaves are 70% golden yellow when others are almost green. They are formed of 3 pointed lobes with a fairly prominent central lobe. The base of the leaf is truncated to cuneiform, sometimes almost cordiform.

This is a very elegant and colorful ivy that looks great when used as a climbing plant or ground cover.

This variety was awarded the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) Award of Garden Merit in 2002.

History

This cultivar was introduced by Frode Maegaard of Hedera Nursery, Ringe, Denmark. It is a mutation of ‘Ester’.
