Description
Ornemental ivy – Hedera helix ‘Manda’s Crested’
In a nutshell
The ornamental ivy, Hedera helix ‘Manda’s Crested’, is self-branching with fairly short internodes, and a strongly recurved-wavy 5-lobed foliage.
Due to the overlapping, the leaf petiole appears to be in the centre, resulting in the characteristic ruffled appearance. The leaf base is heart-shaped.
The foliage is glossy, almost apple-green. It can be tinged coppery brown in cold conditions. This is an ivy best used as a ground cover for medium-sized areas.
This ivy was awarded the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) Award of Garden Merit in 1993
History
