Ornemental ivy – Hedera helix ‘Mario’
In a nutshell
English ivy, Hedera helix ‘Mario’, is a powerful ivy with very large stems bearing large leaves.
They are glossy, dark green, with very wavy and upward-curving edges, sometimes splashed with cream on young leaves.
It is a bushy ivy that often produces fasciate sports with unlobed and wavy leaves.
History
This cultivar was discovered by Mario Hollmann of the German Ivy Society in the late 1990s. It is a mutation of ‘Stuttgart’.
