Base of the leaf rather truncated. Light green to dark green blade, varnished. Constant color over the seasons. Beautifully ribbed by well-contrasted veins.

Slow-growing, slightly branched ivy. Forms beautiful round tufts. Isolated, or as a small ground cover. In pots, always produces a beautiful effect.

Ornamental ivy, Hedera helix ‘Medusa’ , is an unusual, crested ivy with large leaves.

Its port is rather shrubby. The stems are stiff, thick and fasciate at the top. The leaves, fan-shaped, are composed of 3 to 7 shallow lobes narrowing into narrow points. They are made asymmetrical by the presence of unequal and blunt teeth. The base of the leaf is rather truncated. The blade is light green to dark green, varnished. Its color is constant throughout the seasons. It is nicely ribbed by well-contrasted veins.

It is a slow-growing, slightly branched ivy. It forms beautiful round tufts. Use it alone, or as a small ground cover. In a pot, it always produces a beautiful effect.

History

This cultivar, of unknown origin, was transmitted to the American Ivy Society by the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, USA.
