Description
Ornemental ivy – Hedera helix ‘Obovata’
In a nutshell
The ornamental ivy, Hedera helix ‘Obovata’, forms small, heart-shaped, dark green, deltoid leaves that become even darker in winter.
The internodes are spaced out, the foliage forms fairly fine mats.
This ivy can be placed in both the sun and the shade. It is an easy-to-grow variety.
History
This variety was known in the 1870s, already listed in a Lawson Seed nursery catalog. But it then disappeared, until it was rediscovered in a French garden in 1988 and identified by Peter Q. Rose.

The question of circumstance ...
What is a deltoid leaf?
The vocabulary used by botanists to describe plants is very rich. For leaves alone, you may come across dozens of specific terms.
A leaf is said to be deltoid when it has a triangular, delta-like shape. The poplar leaf, for example, is a perfect example of a deltoid leaf.
