Irish ivy – Hedera hibernica ‘Sark’
In a nutshell
Irish ivy, Hedera hibernica ‘Sark’, has pretty shiny, heart-shaped foliage, dark green in colour and which varies according to the seasons.
The stems are flexible, thick and vigorous. It is very branchy. The internodes are short. In winter, the foliage turns red in cold weather.
It is a ground cover ivy, very resistant to dryness, one of those essential ivy plants that you must have in your garden, or on your balcony…
History
This cultivar was discovered on the Channel island of Sark by Mr & Mrs Roxburgh in 1980. It was introduced by Alison Rutherford in 1987.
